Equipment
We often get asked what sort of equipment the society has.
This is a brief rundown of the facilities we have on offer
to our members.
Darkroom
Within the darkroom we have a selection of enlargers and
chemicals for developing and printing black and white films
and prints. These facilities are only available for those
who subscribe to the darkroom option when joining the
society, as the extra money goes towards paying for
chemicals and materials. Please see the Darkroom Frequently Asked
Questions for more details.
Studio Equipment
We have a modest array of studio lighting and backdrops for
photography, chiefly consisting of a Portaflash setup with
two main strobes and two slave strobes. An array of
softboxes and reflectors are also available, in addition to
our new Interfit backdrop support system purchased last
year. We also have a selection of paper and fabric
backdrops for use by our members. To arrange use of the
equipment, please arrange with a committee member who will be
glad to arrange for a tutorial in using the studio
equipment.
Cameras
We have recently acquired three 35mm film SLR cameras and a
selection of lenses which are available for any member of
the society to borrow.
If you would like to borrow a camera, please contact the committee to
arrange a loan. You may borrow the camera for a week,
and all we ask is that you leave a £20 deposit which
will be returned to you when the camera is returned.
You may borrow for longer than a week, but this must
be arranged in advance to make sure that cameras are
not booked by other members.
For instructions on using the equipment, see this page.
